Top Honors Announced for Class of 2013
This year's graduating class is full of high achievers, many of whom have been on the high honor roll since 4th grade. During the past year alone, 75% of the Class of 2013 have achieved "Honor Roll" during one or more of the first three grading periods. And half of our graduates have earned a G.P.A. of 3.5 or higher in each of the past three quarters. Most are involved in leadership, sports, and various other co-curricular areas as well.
This year's 8th graders are all great people and it would have been easy to select half-a-dozen students as "Top Academic Students", and honor each as "Co-Valedictorians". However, in following tradition and in respect to our award winners, we must decide on only two students for these specific academic honors. The two selected students have more than earned the awards, and should feel especially honored given the high degree of competition for this year's recognition as top academic students.
Therefore, after much deliberation and discussion, we would like to publicly announce the Class of 2013 Valedictorian and Salutatorian:
Class of 2013 Valedictorian: Grace Jacobson
Class of 2013 Salutatorian: McKenzie Varga
Congratulations to two very deserving students, and to all of this year's graduates for a job well done! All of you should be proud. Please know that the Big Springs Staff are extremely proud of each of you, and all that you have accomplished during your elementary school career. This is truly a special class. Way to go Class of 2013!

*Important note to 8th Grade Parents: Please note that several adjustments have been made to the Class of 2013 8th Grade Trip. A pair of recently scheduled school activities before and after the planned trip required some adjustments:
-The 2013 MVL Track Meet @ Yreka High School on Thursday, May 16th @ 3:00pm. (Required a change in departure date/time).
-Official 8th Grade Visit to Yreka High School (Practice CAHSEE Testing Day) on Tuesday, May 21st @ 8:45am (Includes CAHSEE Practice Testing, Campus Tour with Senior Buddies, & Sack Lunch). (Students will now arrive home at a reasonable hour, as they will be required to attend this event the morning following their trip).
